Omega was first brought about by Louis Brandt, who assembled watches from parts he bought and sold them across Europe. Then the company soon expanded quickly and moved in to the building that houses the company headquarters today under his sons.
The merging with Tissot and the group SSIH helped the brand continue to achieve and produce. One outstanding timepiece was the Omega Speedmaster Professional Chronograph, which was chosen in the 1960s as the official timepiece of American astronauts. In addition, it was the first watch on the moon, worn by Mr. Aldrin when he landed.
The association with the James Bond movies ever since Pierce Brosnan took over the role and wore the Omega Seamaster Professional model helped the brand gain immense popularity all over the globe. Also, a particular edition of the watch was manufactured to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the James Bond movies.
Omega is also associated with the Olympics and has been appointed as the official timekeeper on multiple occasions, including the most recent summer Olympics.
Omega has one of highest name-recognition rates of any designer watch brand. Their watches are superbly designed, with years of experience behind them.
